Sometimes we need a reminder

As many of you know my iPhone broke recently ( and now my hubby's did too, kinda weird right?) anyways we found an old iPhone for me to use and I was looking threw the pictures and I saw these old pics I had taken of Av as birthmark and my mouth fell to the floor. I know Ive also mentioned on here that I'm not 100% happy with how it's looking but after seeing these pics I'm about to post I will NEVER say that again. How could I have forgotten so quickly what it had been like, I'm actually mad at myself. So here you go, some pre surgery pics (be forewarned they are graphic)

Taken at about a week old
 One month old
Around 3/4 months

5/6 month (this is finally when we stopped listening to our pediatrician and went listened to a specialist)
Around 7 months, She bit it and it got infected
(the crusting had stopped because she was being treated now and was on medication to shrink it)
So yea, I guess I can now suck it up and say, It looks 100 times better

One week post laser surgery (10-21-11)
(This was taken on crappy old iPhone, sorry its a little bit blurry)

Some previous posts on this if you'd like to see progress posts
(in no particular order, I'm a little lazy today)

( The proper name for this Birthmark is Hemangioma)
( The medicine she was treated with was Propranolol)

I would also like to add that my son has one too and he has NOT been treated yet.
Here is a picture of his at about 8 months old
and currently at 35 months old

Frankie's seems to shrinking on it's own, he is also being seen by the same specialist as Ava. The doctor felt best to focus on one child at a time and since Ava's is entwined with the tendons that control her hand, hers came priority.
They can give us no reason why our children got these, the Dr told us its like "hitting the lotto twice!" Gee thanks doc!!

If you have any question about theses types of birthmarks or the treatment we are using on them please feel free to email me.

First School Halloween - Y3W

So yesterday Frankie had his very first school party and it was for Halloween. Well you see this picture? It was the only one I got where he wasn't hysterical crying.  Apparently tons and tons of parents snapping pictures and calling out kids names is overwhelming for a not even 3 year old. I died, I mean it, I died, he was sooooo sad and it killed me. I wanted so badly for him to enjoy it, which his teacher said he did once all the parents left and they ate all their goodies (food works every time!).  I will admit though, seeing my boy so upset made me cry, I tried so hard to stay strong, but I couldn't help it, a few tears sneaked out. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't the only one crying and scared, but it felt like it at that moment. The other mommas were so kind to me, I really appreciated it. Here's to hoping next year is better!
And because I'm an evil mother who is going to proudly display these pics in my living when hes in high school I might as well show you a few too!!

October Sponsor Love {5}

Hi!  I'm Alana and I blog about my newlywed adventures at Mrs. Alana's Miscellany. I met my husband on eHarmony and just started writing our love story. I'm a Southerner (Roll Tide!), a teacher (the kind that makes you watch Dead Poets Society and journal every day), and a brand-new Air Force wife. We just moved to Omaha and we're loving it so far, although I'm absolutely dreading winter! I'm also currently battling baby fever (help!), and hope I can be half the mom that Jill is one day.

I just opened my etsy shop, Alana in Love, where I sell my original art and probably the cheapest custom art ever. :)  Use the code MISCELLANY for an extra 10% off!

Come by and say hi!

blog // shop // facebook // twitter

I stumbled across Sweet Stella's very honestly. My son was 5 months old and I was needing a creative outlet to express the artist that was hiding somewhere in my new Mom-self. I started making Photo Boxes for my mother and mother-in-law, and started having fun with paper. Next came paint, ornaments, ink and stamps...and the rest is history!
Now, Sweet Stella's is proving to be something that I can pour my heart and soul (not to mention four years of studying Fine Art at Wilfrid Laurier University) into. Every day, there is a new opportunity to work on a fun and creative project for a customer. There are little moments of inspiration; a glimpse of colour in an unusual spot...creative flair in an unexpected place.
First and foremost, I am a mom. I have a wonderful son who is a ball of energy and keeps me on my toes. But, in being a mom I have discovered that I need to stay true to myself, and for me, that means being creative.

Sweet Stella's has taken me places beyond my wildest imagination; my Notestacks have been featured at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Award GBK Productions Gifting Suite, and I have been fortunate enough for my brand to be taken to the Blog Her '11 Conference. Next year, my goal is to personally go to Blog Her '12 and meet some amazing customers, mom's and like minded entrepreneurs!

Hey there! I'm Ashley--Momma to 2 beautiful girls who make me beam with brags (and pull out my hair on occasion) and wife to a hunk of a man knee deep in estrogen. I work part time as a nurse in both a family practice and OBGYN office and full time at home as a mommarazzi, booboo kissin', pro I-Spyin', mean grilled cheese makin', snuggle lovin', tea party extraordinaire. I blog about any and everything that suits my fancy. Visit our Shenanigans soon! I serve a mean cup of air.

Hi!  I'm Mama G from Growing Up Geeky.  I am married to M - a mad scientist, and I just became a stay-at-home Mommy to my 9-month-old daughter Carina.  M is an oboe playing organic chemist by day and a fearless video game dragon slayer at night.  I am a former Math-lete and self-proclaimed domestic failure, and I would rather alphabetize my spice rack than go to the Mall.  I think it's safe to say that our baby girl won't have a prayer at being cool. My blog celebrates our quirks and outright geekiness and provides you with a healthy dose of super cute baby.

So in love

yesterday I was laying on the couch watching my kids play and suddenly all the things I was stressing over just seemed to float away. I could spend hours every day wondering how we are going to pay for Ava's surgery, when to try and sell the house again, my broken phone, and the list goes on and on.  But then in a simple moment those playing kids jump on the couch and give me hugs and kisses and I'm reminded just how truly blessed I am, and just how much I'm totally in love with those little munchkins.  I think we all need to just slow down and remember just how blessed we are sometimes.  So followers take a moment today, and forget about all that stress and look for the wonderful in your life, because its there xoxo

(p.s. this picture was taken when I was pregnant with Ava, swoon, one of my faves!)

Crockpot Recipe Time {5}

It's that time again, you know where I share another incredibly easy yummy crockpot  meal with you =)
This is the way I have been making pot roast lately and we love it, I hope you do too.
Any kind of roast you like to use for your pot roast Ive used them all. This one was a top eye round.
Salt and pepper
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope of Lipton onion soup mix
1 1/4 cup of water

Instructions:
Salt and Pepper roast right in crockpot
Pour in cream of mushroom soup
Pour in water
Pour in soup mix
mix all together
cover and cook on low for 8 hours

This makes its own gravy which is awesome, all I do is take out the roast then pour the liquid threw the strainer to make the gravy.

So yummy, I usually serve with egg noddles (pour gravy over it, nomnom!!) and a veggie!

Try it you wont be sorry!
