1 month later..Surgery update

So it has been just over a month since Ava had her surgery on her Hemangioma (birthmark) on her wrist. I have to say that I LOVE her Doctor and have 100% faith in him.  We go back in August and he will tell us if he thinks she will need more surgery.  Right now she is currently taken medicine to help shrink the underneath part and reduce the redness.  Everyone seems to think it looks great, but I cant help it, the Mommy in me was hoping that it would just be a scar by now.  Im scared because I do think she will need more surgery and it just frightens me.  Having to have your toddler put under in just not cool and its something I have done 4 times now between my two children. I wonder why my IBS has been acting up recently, LOL!! or why I suddenly have gray hairs sneaking in. I guess I better just get used to it because "as long as Im living, my babies they'll be" and the worrying will never end.

Here is a before and after picture for you.

I think you can see that the bulk of it has gone down.  What do you think?

I hope you all have a lovely weekend doing what makes you happy, I will be poolside with my loves...

  2. I think it's looking great Jill. It's only been a month, give it some more time for the meds to do their things and the swelling to continue diminishing. When it's time the doctor will let you know what has to be done, it's fantastic you found one that you have such faith in! Most importantly though, how is the little on feeling? Is she using the hand and wrist like normal yet?

  3. Thank you Kristen, I needed that! She is doing great, fully using her hand, shes still so little so its hard to tell if she has as much strength as she should, but right now, she seems pretty normal =)

  8. It obviously looks better, but as a mom you want it gone. My daughter was born with one on her eyelid that forced her eye closed. After the surgeries finally got it down so that she could open her eye, she was a year old and even though her eye is fine, her brain never had the chance to recognize vision there so she is legally blind in that eye with no way to get sight back into a perfect eye! It is so gut wrenching to have our children go through life's trials when we are incapeable of making it "all better". We do the best we can and love them unconditionally right?
Just stopping by to catch up and say Hi.

  9. Hi! I think it looks soooo much better! It is so hard to see children go through surgery. When my daughter was 10 mos. old she needed to have surgery and since I worked at the hospital, they let me go in the O.R. I had to act like everything was fine, but I felt so sick when I saw those eyes roll back in her head! Very hard!
Thanks for hopping by and visiting me. I'm happily returning the follow!
    Keep us posted!

  10. It looks good mama. My son has one on his liver since birth. It's had an ever changing diagnosis and finally a biopsy last year. We're starting the process for removal surgery this week.

  11. It does look so much better. Give it some more time, it has only been a month. But I totally understand how you feel. I would want it gone also and couldn't even imagine how it feels to have your babies go under for surgery. I have not experienced that and hopefully I won't ever have to.....so scary. Hope your having a great weekend by the pool:)
